Welcome back everyone. We have spent the week being introduced to all our new topics across the curriculum. In maths, we have started place value and have been learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. In English, we are learning how to write warning stories using Pie Corbett’s ‘The Caravan’ as our model text. Our history topic this term is ‘British Settlements of Anglo Saxons and Scots’ and we kicked this off by looking at some photos of artefacts found at the Sutton Hoo burial site. The children made some inspiring suggestions alongside their justifications as to who they believed these items belonged to. In science we are learning about classification, and we started by using a Venn diagram to show how animals can be sorted by more than one criteria. We also started our ukulele lessons this week which the children fully enjoyed – as did I and finally, next week we start our dance lessons with GKY dance. We’ve had a wonderful start to year 4 and I’m looking forward to seeing how the year progresses.
We hope you like our collaborative piece of art we produced as part of our transition activity. It is currently hung in our book snug and we love how eye-catching and colourful it is!
