We were extremely fortunate as we had the opportunity to participate in a pottery session with John from Eastnor Pottery. We found out how to shape the clay and used different tools and techniques to achieve our desired outcome. The ideas that we expressed onto our individual pieces of clay will contribute to a whole school project which will show what Cleobury means to us. We are excited to see the completed piece.
TrustED Dance
This year, we are working with TrustEd PE specialists to help staff and pupils develop their dance skills.
During the first half term, Hedgehog class were extremely lucky as we had dance lessons with Abi from TrustED.
During our 'Explorers' themed topic, she has helped us to develop our skills and has taught us what makes a 'champion dancer', develop a motif and move in counts of eight.
We were so proud to share our dance with the parents.
Africa Day
As part of our geography topic on hot and cold countries, Hedgehog class took part in an Africa themed day.
We enjoyed wearing our own brightly coloured clothes and throughout the day we engaged in a range of activities including: dressing up in Maasai clothing, using a Kenyan recipe to make biscuits and making Massai inspired jewellery.
We were also extremely lucky as Mr. Dawes showed us some photographs and videos from when he visited Africa and Mrs Phillips brought in her African land snails. They were amazing!
We also enjoyed doing the Maasai jumping dance and singing a call and response song from Ghana.
Blists Hill
To start our history topic, schools form the past, we visited Blists Hill museum where we looked around the Victorian village to see what life used to be like. The children absolutely loved this visit and had the opportunity to dress up in typical Victorian clothes and behave as Victorian children. They absolutely loved the Victorian school style lesson and thought that the teacher was extremely strict. It was lovely to see the excitement on their faces as they engaged in so many new experiences. They noticed many differences to how we live today and they are certainly excited to find out more!
