We have had an extremely busy fortnight in Deer Class and have enjoyed celebrating many different events including: Parliament Week, World Kindness Day, Anti-bullying week and Children in Need.

In English, we have started exploring our new text of Cogheart by Peter Bunzl.  After spending time exploring the front cover, blurb and story map we made a prediction on what we thought might happen and wrote our own blurb based on our observations. We also looked at some unusual images that inspired Peter Bunzl to write Cogheart and have many questions about what could happen.

The prologue had us gripped and we cannot wait to find out what happens to Malkin and whether John survived.

In Maths, we have been using many operations to help us explore a problem about the amount of aliens that could be made with a certain amount of legs.  It was wonderful to see the children confidently using all four mathematical operations and explain their thinking.  I was also impressed by their determination to succeed and find all possible ways.

In topic, we have explored what people use rivers for and enjoyed learning about the River Volga and Amazon River. We were shocked to find out the in 1827 someone caught a sturgeon, which produce caviar, that weighed 1570kg and was over 7 meters long.

In music, we have begun to practise our Christmas songs. The children are singing enthusiastically and cannot wait to perform for you.

Have a lovely weekend and thank you for your continued support.

Please see the Deer webpage for information about the other activities we have completed.
