In today’s visit from PCSO Fletcher, we learnt about forensics. We discussed what forensic information was and found out that we all carry  forensic information including DNA, hair, finger prints, saliva and footprints are used to help identify people. The Police wear protective equipment when they go to investigate certain situations to avoid contaminating crime scenes.

We also learnt about ‘SmartWater’. This is an invisible liquid that is linked to an individual property and can be used to identify your property and keep it safe.

Next, we all took our fingerprint and discovered that everyone has a unique fingerprint pattern.

Then, we used an ultraviolet light to find examples of ‘SmartWater’ around the classroom.

We finished the session by finding out what would happen if we were unlucky enough to have  a criminal record and were surprised to find out all the things you could not do should you get a criminal record.

"I loved using the black light to help find the SmartWater," N.P.

"I could not believe that you can mark every item you own with SmartWater to keep it safe," J.W.
