What an exciting start to Year 4 Hare Class. In maths we have been learning about reading and writing numbers and many children can read and write 6 digit numbers – very impressive. Following this, we have been partitioning numbers and the children can successfully partition 3, 4 and even 5 digit numbers. We have also been placing numbers on a number line, including filling in missing intervals.

In English, we have been looking at Pie Corbett’s ‘The Caravan’ warning story. The children have been studying the characters, recognising the different word types and also developing their use of direct speech with children from the story. Next week we will be looking at story writing in which the children will be writing their own story with a warning.

In other subjects, we have been looking at our environment in science and in history children have been developing a sense of chronology and creating their own timelines.
